NDC Optics understands the strict requirements of terrestrial
& space-based optical filter applications. We have filters
installed in the world’s largest & most recent scientific
telescope systems.
Applications include steep-profiled Narrowband Filters and
Spectrograph Sorting Filters, designed to operate in cryostat
conditions, or in space environments.
Custom design and analytical testing are vital in astronomical
& Space applications. We routinely support astronomical
projects with detailed design analysis to predict filter
performance in specific situations, including the effects of cone
angle or cooling to operating temperatures.
We maintain calibrated Dual-Beam & FT-IR spectrophotometer
facilities, to assure the wavelength accuracy of our most precise
filters.
Space Environment Qualification and Calibration of cooling
effects on our filters is well-established. Astronomical filters
are typically supplied with data to characterize spectral shift
& transmission level changes across the operating temperature
range. These features can be measured directly on samples from the
individual manufacturing batches.
