NIR Sensors use Near Infrared energy to make direct measurements of specific constituents or components of products during processing. They operate on the principal that certain wavelengths of NIR energy are selectively absorbed by these constituents.

NDC Infrared Engineering manufactures a range of NIR Sensors for applications in Extruded Film manufacturing:

• FG710S Transmission Sensors - Thickness or Grammage Measurement of clear, pigmented or voided films of single or multi-layer composition on Biax, Cast and Blown Film processes 
• TFG710S Transmission Sensors - Thickness or Grammage Measurement of Thin Films on Biax and Cast Film processes 
• IG710 Backscatter Sensor - Coatweight and Moisture Measurements

Each sensor configuration lends itself to particular products to offer a no-compromise measurement solution.

The advantage of NIR measurement technology is that it is completely safe, with extremely low energy levels in a safe area of the electromagnetic spectrum. This means that no special shielding is required nor any licensing or special safety training for operators.

NDC has developed NIR sensors so that they offer the highest measurement resolution of any NIR on-line sensor and each sensor makes one complete measurement every six (6) milliseconds.
