There is hardly a device that we use in our daily life that
doesn’t rely on lithium-ion batteries (LIB), from power tools,
laptops, MP3 players and mobile phones, to e-bikes and other
electric and hybrid vehicles.
Our FG710S infrared sensor is capable of measuring thickness of
micro-porous separator film, and our Spot-On™
software for electrode patch or stripe coating
provides controls to help LIB makers operate more efficiently and
within specification, while improving product consistency and
quality. All are integral to our TDi (Total Distributed
intelligence) platform.
The
FG710S Infrared (IR) Sensor measures on-line thickness of
micro-porous film in the typical range of 10 to 40 microns. When
used in concert with a standard beta sensor to measure film basis
weight, an on-line density profile can be displayed for true
on-line monitoring and control.
Spot-On™ Coating Application Software includes the following
features for LIB:
- Same Spot Measurement, to eliminate any influence from
substrate variability from total variations in the coating
process
- Stretch compensation for thermal and mechanical dynamics inside
the drying oven
- True Net Coat software, to provide true coating measurement,
independent of density and composition variation between substrate
and coating
- Variable Isolation software, to segregate Cross Direction from
Machine Direction variations to improve control performance and
speed of response
- Gap Exclusion software for patch coating to accurately measure
true coat weight without influence from the uncoated areas (gaps)
of the substrate.
NDC Systems replace slow, time-consuming off-line sample
testing, freeing up personnel time and delivering quick payback
through reduced scrap, faster start-up and reduced targets for LIB
coat weight and separator film. The resulting consistent product
performance and long battery life help to maintain customer and
