NIR Sensors use Near Infrared energy to make direct measurements
of specific constituents or components of products during
processing. They operate on the principal that certain wavelengths
of NIR energy are selectively absorbed by these constituents.
NDC Infrared Engineering manufactures a whole range of NIR
Sensors which use three principle configurations:
- Backscatter (or Diffuse Reflection)
- Transmission and Forward Scatter (or Diffuse Transmission)
- Specular Reflection
Each configuration lends itself to particular products to offer
a no-compromise measurement solution.
The advantage of NIR measurement technology is that it is
completely safe, with extremely low energy levels in a safe area of
the electromagnetic spectrum. This means that no special shielding
is required nor any licensing or special safety training for
operators.
NDC has developed NIR sensors so that they offer the highest
measurement resolution of any NIR on-line sensor and each sensor
makes one complete measurement every 7.5 milliseconds.
