Clear or pigmented, single or multi-layer, extruded polymer
sheets are produced in a wide range of thicknesses using many
different types of polymer.
To ensure a no-compromise, real-time film thickness measurement
to the best accuracy, NDC Infrared Engineering has developed a
whole range of dedicated sensors, which, mounted on a scanning
frame and linked to an NDC Profile Display and, optionally, Control
System, deliver high performance results for product and process
optimization.
For thicker single layer pigmented sheets, the GBS (Gamma
Backscatter) Gauge is ideal; for fast moving thinner sheets, the
Beta Transmission Gauge is the choice. For multi-layer co-extruded
transparent films, an Infrared Transmission sensor can measure the
total grammage and the grammage of the barrier layer
simultaneously. NDC Caliper gauges provide a direct thickness
measurement where required.
NDC Scanning and Control systems combine measurement and sensor
position data to create high resolution profiles both across the
web and in the machine direction.
